The public chamber of the Russian Federation recommends to create the specialized centers at the universities to provide assistance in solving the legal problems of foreign students

Members of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation asked the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Olga Vasiliev to create the special centers at the Russian universities for legal assistance to foreign students and to create an open public reception for them, according to the letter to the Minister from the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on development of public diplomacy and support of compatriots abroad. In February 2017 in the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation held a round table devoted to the legal problems of foreign students in Russia. The recommendations of the event participants were articulated in initiatives aimed at improving the situation of foreign students.

«As a result of the round table the participants formulated proposals on the improvement of the legal situation of foreign students in the Russian Federation... «(We offer) to create at universities the specialized centers for assistance in solving the legal problems of foreign students; to create an open public reception for foreign students», — states the letter to the Minister. Social activists also asked the Minister to formulate special recommendations for foreign students (including in English language) which would be publicly available on the official website. In addition, the Public Chamber asked the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation «to provide English versions of the websites of the universities for timely informing the foreign students» and «to place the list of accredited organizations that are engaged in the recruitment of foreign students to study in the Russian universities on the official website of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation».
